East Corkscrew Road Update: 10,000 Homes, Aldi Opening in December and Widening Targeting Year-End
A new October 2026 development roundup for East Corkscrew Road in Estero shows the corridor growing fast, with new retail on the way and road work still moving toward a year-end finish.
East Corkscrew Passes 10,000 Homes
The corridor passed 10,000 homes by the end of June 2026. Corkscrew Road Phase II widening is projected to finish in December 2026, with north-side paving scheduled to start the week of October 12. The multi-use path, streetlights and landscaping are expected to wrap up this fall.
New Retail: Aldi and Chick-fil-A
Aldi is expected to open in December 2026, and a right-in/right-out access must be completed before then. At Grand Oaks Plaza, the former Perkins site was demolished in early August and Chick-fil-A construction began in early September.
Looking Further Out
The draft Lee MPO 2050 plan includes no widening funding for the next 10 years beyond the current phase. The Alico Road extension is set to start in Q4 2026 and finish in late 2029. A countywide sales tax could appear on the 2028 ballot, and Lee County expects to award an impact fee study contract this month. True North Classical Academy, a K-12 charter school, plans to open in August 2028.
What this means for buyers and sellers
East Corkscrew continues to add homes, shopping and schools, but road capacity and school seats are still catching up. Buyers should weigh commute and construction timelines, while sellers near new retail and finished road improvements may benefit as the corridor matures.
